I have been working on my Brain on a mac. I recently purchased a PC and wanted to move my files over . I was told that I could download a version from my webbrain, which I did. When I opened it, the files are all scrambled. I have over 15,000 thoughts and thousands of links and attachments. All of the notes and attachments are attached to the wrong things.

I then thought that I would be OK because I still had my files on my mac - but no. When I tried to open my files, the error message I got said:
"There was an error while opening this Brain. The error was:
Database "/Users/dianethompson/Documents/PersonalBrain/GTD Brain6_brain/brain_db/brain" not found Data will now be recovered from the continuous backup service.
Recovery from error opening this brain failed. No automatic backup file could not be found."

When I went back to my PC, to have a look at the file there, I got another error message:
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify your if a solution is available.

I tried to log onto my webbrain, and managed to get on there at least. I took a brief look and found that there is scrambling on the web version. I might be able to get a version from my Time Machine. Can you offer any suggestions?
Forum: Issues

Hi

I would like to search in children of a thought and for a a type

But how to do that? To have the “Only under active” option, I have to type a text in the search box. Let say I have a thought “Upper body” and a type “Dumbbell”. I want all children of the thought “Upper body” with the “Dumbbell” type. But how I do that?

I jump to the “Upper body” thought, ok. Now if in the search box I type Dumbbell, it will not select the Dumbbell type, just the thoughts with this word.

I can do this if I create a tag “Upper body” and if I assign it on all children of “Upper body”. So, I can search “Upper body” in the type “Dumbbell” (in Advanced search). That is a little stupid and time wasting. And what if I want to search all the children of “Upper body” in the “Dumbbell” and in the “Bench” types?

Is that me who do not understand to use the search function, or this function is very poor?

Thanks for your answers.

Richard

Forum: TheBrain Uses

Hi!

I would like to use a lot of expanded views, about 200. But when you want to open an expanded view, the list of expanded views is not able to show 200 views. We can't scroll the list. So, are the number of expanded views saved limited by the resolution of the screen? That a strange feature.

Thanks for your help!

Richard
Forum: TheBrain Uses

It would be very useful if the cloud services brain would invoke a single attached though url by simply clicking on the icon attached to the thought. It is apparent that cloud services recognizes the icon attached because it emphasizes it when you mouse over it. If there exists more than one attachment then it could ask the same way the desktop version does.
Forum: Feature Suggestions

It appears that when performing a search in cloud services the search only looks at thought titles. If that is the case it would be useful if we could also get it to search notes text. I don't need it to go so far as to search attachments the way advanced search does in the desktop version.
Forum: Feature Suggestions

I am a mind map enthusiast and visual thinker. I love to use the brain and it is in my top list of most used tools however I wish It keep evolving to more graphical visual aids. This idea probably was already in the developers table but would be nice to have forms and shapes to choose from to help categorize and enhance the creativity while creating new connections. Cloud forms, dotted, squares, bubbles and any other suitable form that can help express new emotions and ideas would be a plus and nice to have for future releases, What U think?

Forum: Feature Suggestions

The sitebrain export has never worked with TheBrain 7. In Internet Explorer one can open a sitebrain and browse around, but the instant access search box is so buggy as to be totally unusable. I contacted support last August and they said they were aware of this issue, but the problem remains unresolved.
Any news about this?
Forum: Issues
