Up now and fixes the problem with Unicode in notes...

Version 4.3.0.2

May 23, 2008

  • Speed of conversions from 4.2 is much faster
  • Fixes:
    • Saving and conversion of Unicode characters in notes works properly
    • Fixed: Issues the “can’t undo this action” warning when converting a Brain from PersonalBrain 3 format.
    • Fixed: When a thought has an icon attached to it and an image is in the clipboard, "Paste thought-icon" is disabled.
    • Fixed: In the properties Window, clicking on Display > Remove icon does not remove the icon.
    • Fixed: Using drag and drop is used to change a thought from child to jump, (by clicking and dragging the thought from the child area to the jump area) does not work anymore.

I have tested this version in Suse 10.2 with KDE 3.5.9.

Comments:
-  Conversion took about 10 minutes for a database with 3000 thoughts.
-  Very high CPU use(above 90%) by Java under the conversion
- Did not notice any differences in PB when finished. Did not stress-test it, but seemed to work as in 4.2.
- The GTK menus look a bit sparse with that font. Some text in dialogue box were not correctly placed.

Should there be any functionality improvements in 4.3.0.2 in the Linux version?

I just installed 4.3.0.2.  Same computer as yesterday, same brain file.  The conversion process took about 7 minutes (instead of more than 20 minutes yesterday).    I did not pay attention yesterday, but with 4302 the indexing of thoughts takes a lot more time than previous releases (4.1 & 4.2).  I could say that with 4.2, the indexation was done in less than 2 minutes.  With 4302, it just took 10 minutes (just for thoughts, not web pages) to complete the indexation of 420 thoughts.

Characters with accents in notes are now displayed properly.

Good job, and thanks for the quick fix!

Regards,

Tommy

Outside of the speed increase and GTK, no Linux-specific features have been added.

Just installed 4.3.0.2

Issue regarding Danish characters in notes is fixed.

The conversion took exactly the same time (10 minutes) as with 4.3.0.1 with approximately the same amount of thoughts: 6813 and 6830 respectively.

If you have large Brain file, you will not notice a big difference in the speed of conversion. With small Brains, it will be a dramatic difference. In any case, conversion and indexing is a one time deal.

This version seems stable in Linux. Good performance.

Except when selecting Reports and choosing one of the drop-down menus, it freezes the brain. No thoughts can then be activated. PersonalBrain must be restarted to work again.
This does not happen when selecting the other tabs like Calendar and Search, only reports. This is when Auto-Hide is turned on. If Advanced Tools Layout is deselected, it works as expected.

The Reports are quicker than in 4.2.

Thanks for the feedback.  Can you please repeat the freezing problem with auto-hide and reports and then post the output.log file?

It happens when I choose the drop-down list with "All Dates".
