4506 froze on attempted drag and drop of Outlook Contact information, either as an attachment to an existing Thought or as an attempt to create a new Thought based on the person's name.  I've restarted PB and Outlook a couple of times to see if I can override the bug, but it doesn't seem to work.

Ahmed requested:

Can you send us the output.log file that is in your PersonalBrain directory (on Windows it is usually C:\Program Files\Personal Brain\)? You can just attach the output.log file to your post.

Done (see attachment).  Thanks.

Aha!  I figured it out.  For some reason, Outlook is now launching a dialog box *behind* PB (which I have set to Auto-Hide Right) saying that an external program is trying to access my email addresses.  PB won't close to the right, since it's involved in mid-drag-and-drop, and I can't see (or access) the dialog box because it's hidden behind PB.

The odd thing is that even if I say 'No' to the dialog, or even force-Close it, Outlook transmits and PB accepts the drag and drop.

I can work around this by switching PB to 'Float', but it's an inconvenient workaround.  Does anybody know how to turn off this security feature in Outlook?  I don't remember turning it on.  Thanks.

Hello, unfortunately this security feature of Outlook can't be easily turned off (and shouldn't be since turning it off makes Outlook vulnerable to virus attacks). We are looking at possible ways around this for a future release of PB.

Use the Advanced Security for Outlook add-in at http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security/

Actually, the tool located at http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security/ suggested by rflazaro is a free utility that anyone can install so that you can configure Outlook to allow PersonalBrain access to information without needing to approve it every time. If you don't like clicking those approval boxes, please give it a try and let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks again rflazaro. I have installed this tool and it works correctly without any problems.

To avoid security prompts from Outlook when dragging and dropping to PersonalBrain:
  1. Download the free software from http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security/
  2. Make sure to close Outlook prior to running the installer.
  3. After you drag and drop something to PersonalBrain, select "Allow" and the "Always" option. You may have to do this up to three times. Once this has been done, you should not get any further prompts.
As mentioned earlier, we are looking into better ways of avoiding this security prompt that will not require installation of separate software for a future release of PersonalBrain.
