Great to read this but the 5.0.3.8 for MacOS link on the download page still points to the 5.0.3.7 version. So far i'm unable to update...
(been waiting for this update in order to get PB with JDK 1.6 up and running again... ;-) ).
Cheers

I suspect this is a problem with the caching mechanism of our download server. It should resolve itself in the next few hours. Please try again later or try the other version (DMG format with an installer).

....

hmm but the installer works only with write access to the apps dir.
Let's wait...

good morning Harlan,

Why "Added command to assign a new GUID to a Brain (File > Utilities > Assign Brain New GUID)"?

That sounds promising, lemme see....

Yes, the docking framework does seem more stable, from what I've tried. Thanks to the team for that. Now for the Notes Editor.

Let's try pasting in this bit of plain text, as Plain Text:

Looks OK in Notes except that blank lines are again lost:

Well, let's try copying this and pasting this back into our plain text editor:

Nice try, but no cigar.

Here's another example of mangled plain text:

I also noticed that for the first time, when trying to paste in plain text, PB would occasionally refuse to let this happen till I shut it down and restarted it.

Er, exactly what improvements did EditLive! make to this module?

It seems to be the same editlive version in 5038:

grep -iA1 "editlive" editliveConfig.xml
<editlive>
    <document>
--
            product="EditLive for Java"
            release="6.0"
--
</editlive>

I guess the notes editor will be updated in the new PB 5.1.

This was said previously here by the PB team:

I wonder if it will be the new EditLive v.6.7 that will be included?

FransJehoul, I would guess that the reason you can have a brain generate a new GUID is for those times where you have copied your brain (using the file directory), and then started it up and started hacking away on it. This new fuction would be the only way to show that the copy is a "different" brain.

Again, just a guess.

I would hope it is a preparation for a new functionality of linking brains in v.5.1.

FYI, PersonalBrain 5.0.3.8 uses EditLive 6.7.2.46. The "6.0" in the config file is for the license key, which is good for all 6.x releases. There are many fixes - if you really want to see the list, you can go here: http://releases.ephox.com/ (the prior version of PB included EeditLive 6.6.1.36)

The reason for the addition of the GUID command will become clear soon enough. For now let's just say there will be important new functionality for Brains available for everyone and you wont even have to install a new release of PersonalBrain.

Humm... template brains made available on a think tank like site (Think Tank--- the original place/site that TheBrain made available to all users of Personal Brain to upload their brain, and allow others to access it).

If you are going to have a collection of brains online, you need to be able to generate new GUIDs for Brains for those template brains (or brains that get "branched").

Humm--- I hope it is the return of Think Tank! Being able to upload brains and pull them down to other machines would be awesome.

Maybe we can be able to link Think Tanks!

I think was something that was available before in version 3. DarkStar might know more about this.
