Jim
Though my file manager is set as "konqueror' in the options>prefs>settings tab, and the default browser is set to konqueror on my system, PB always opens Firefox when I select file>Open in Browser in the notes pane.

How can I change this?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay, Jim. The setting you are interested in is the Java setting for the path to launch a browser. You can probably change this from the Java plugin control panel. On Opensuse 10.3, this is found in the menu, System-->Configuration--> Sun Java 1.6.x Control Panel, but you may also find it in your currently configured java directory. For me, this is /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0.u4-sun-1.6.0.u4/jre/bin/ControlPanel.

In the control Panel, the fourth tab "Advanced" has "Command to launch default browser" and a dialog where you can set the path to the executable.

Be vewy quiet. I'm hunting wabbit.

Hi Tim

As far as I can work out I've done what you've suggested as both root and normal user. The relevant box says 'konqueror' or '/usr/bin/konqueror' and STILL Firefox opens!

Any other ideas?

try on a command line as a normal user:

which konqueror

it should respond with something like:

/opt/kde3/bin/konqueror

(your milage may vary) The result is the actual executable path for the command you executed. Copy and paste the result into the command prompt and verify that it launches correctly. If so, copy and paste into the Java control panel.

Let me know if that helps.

Sorry, I didn't notice this post earlier...

The commands used to open various file associations can be modified by editing the text file PersonalBrain/res/DefaultUnixCommands.properties.

If this file does not exist, create it using an editor or use the attached example. Each line should start with an extension, then an equals sign, and then the commands that should be used to open it in order of preference.

To change the default browser, edit the order of the commands for the htm and html extensions. The default values are:

html=firefox,opera,konqueror,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape
htm=firefox,opera,konqueror,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape

To make konqueror the default browser, this can be changed to:

html=konqueror,firefox,opera,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape
htm=konqueror,firefox,opera,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape

Note that PersonalBrain will use the first application in the list that is available and ignores all of the others in the line. So, you could also make this simpler and just write:

html=konqueror
htm=konqueror

But if you ever uninstalled konqueror, Web pages would fail to open at all.
Regards,
-Harlan

When I saw your post I thought 'at last!'. However, it was short lived.

I put the file here:

/usr/local/PersonalBrain/res/DefaultUnixCommands.properties

And changed the lines in question to this:

html=konqueror,firefox,opera,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape
htm=konqueror,firefox,opera,epiphany,quanta,mozilla,netscape

And STILL Firefox opens when I click on File>Open in Browser in the Notes Pane, or if I click on a relevant attachment.

Mmm?

Have you put it in the entries at the end of the file?

Can you try to remove the firefox entries in the file to see what happens then?

I'm going to do some experimenting with this and let you guys know by tomorrow what I find out, but most likely it seems we have a bug on our hands.
Thanks,

Sorry for the late reply. So far, this file hasn't been doing anything for me either. I'll keep experimenting.

I have the same questino for windows XP.
Currently, all my files, in Persoanl Brain, are opening with Internet explorer whereas I would like them to be opend with Firefox. How shall I do to make sure that PB opens html attachments with Firefox (whereas my system opens html files with Firefox)

I came across this topic thread while trying to convince my brain to open links in Chrome instead of Firefox.

To verify that Chrome was my default browser from the command-line, I typed

sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser

and got as output

  Selection    Path                       Priority   Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0            /usr/bin/google-chrome      150       auto mode
  1            /usr/bin/epiphany-browser   85        manual mode
  2            /usr/bin/firefox            40        manual mode
  3            /usr/bin/google-chrome      150       manual mode

which seemed okay.

Next I changed every instance of "firefox"in PersonalBrain/res/DefaultUnixCommands.properties to "google-chrome,firefox".

Finally, I went into the Sun Java 6 Plugin Control Panel, and changed the browser preference from /usr/bin/firefox to /usr/bin/google-chrome.

After all this, the Brain continues to open links in Firefox.

I'm using PersonalBrain Pro 5.5.2.4 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx).
