HanBav

I find each type (in total 5 types) 4 times in the list of link types.
To find in PBManualAsABrain (public)
Have just downloaded the brainzip for another machine.

Don't know if this was done by the copy out of the big brain or by some sync miracle.

By the way: How could I search for link types / labels or create a report?

... Furthermore I think TheBrain is unique

Hannes,

I'm trying to replicate the issue with copying and pasting of several groups of thoughts.  Also with random syncs and merges from other brains.  No duplicate thought types yet.

Can you please keep an eye on the issue and let me know if you discover a systematic way to reproduce?

Thank you,
Matt

Here we go:
The original brain has each type only once.
The fresh brain where a little part of the big one was copied in, has types doubled.
The brain that was built up by brain-zip & syncing shows quadrupel link types.
Trying to redo it led me to several problems.
In short I think while copying there were made orphaned thoughts that were connected via typed links to other thoughts that were not selected for copying.

And a special one: in the one with only the double link types I added one new type: this one I see now 5 times ("search for a link label or type")

I give up for the moment and only post the links to the two brainzips for Matt or Moe here:

And I repeat my question: How to search for a link-type??

Hannes, Running some tests I was able to successfully reproduce the multiple link types problem and have notified our developers. Thanks again for posting detailed information regarding the problem and a copy of your Brainzips on our forum.

Thanks,
Moe

Hi there,
I have the same problem. After sync I now have the link types twice, see picture attached.
What do I do? Delete each duplication of the link types?
I tried a re-synch from an earlier date but that does not solve the problem.

Any ideas?
Thanks and best regards,
Frank

Frank,

We've only recently been able to replicate this issue and we are still working on a solution.  Until then, please make a back up of your original Brain file, before you decide to start deleting some link types.

Thank you,
Matt

I've got duplicate link types too.

Don't know how to fix or clean this up without a Link Type report.

If this error would lead to a report on link types it would have even a good side.
Don't understand why it is not already there.
This limits the use of linktypes substantially.

One hopes that improved management of link types and labels will be given major priority in the next major version. Currently this is one of the most neglected areas of PB. There are several threads and UserVoice requests about this.

Quote: The link label should also be completely independent of link type.

For us that had the duplicate link types from this issue and report in this thread...

How are we going to correct / fix this problem?

I know of no way to find or report on link types!

And I have some duplicates that need to be removed.

Please find the instructions below on how to get rid of the duplicate Link Types in your Brain.
  1. Create a Brainzip backup of your Brain.
  2. Right click a link which is not typed then select "Link Properties"
  3. In the Link Type drop down select the second Link Type in the list. For example, if you have two Link Type named "Managed", select the second one in the list to set the link to that Link Type.
  4. Now select the delete button to delete the Link Type.
  5. Repeat the same process for all duplicate Link Types.
Thanks,
Moe
