I copied "Daniel Goleman" from a page and tried to paste it into a create-child thought dialog. Nothing happened, i.e. no text appeared in the field.

I tried copying & pasting it again and still no text.

Fearing what happened last time I cancelled this dialog. Copied again, dragged to create a child and this time it pasted.

I realise this doesn't give you any more info to go on but wanted to mention that this problem is still live and lurks in front of a serious crash bug.

Matt,

Which build was this replicated in?  We've fixed some related issues in 9.0.246.  I noticed that your signature states 9.0.242.  You may want to switch over to the Alpha channel and update to the latest build.

Mac OS: Go to TheBrain > Preferences > System > Updates and select Alpha from the dropdown menu. Then go to TheBrain > Check for Update, and install the update.

Thank you,
Matt

The dangers of putting such variables into your sig. The build I am actually running is 245.

I'm currently updating from the stable channel. Overall, I'm not sure I want to switch to alpha.

Matt,

Understood and certainly not required, depending on your comfort level.

Thanks,
Matt

I just experienced this with build .246
Interestingly if I pasted into notepad, recopied and then pasted into the Brain, it worked

Matt and Jonathan,

In reviewing this issue (and still unable to replicate) I'm wondering if there was any meta data in the original text that you had copied?  Did you copy text off the web or from a document?  Anything unique about the clipboard content?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt

The last time this happened (build .246)
Copying text into the notes from a web page. Although this has happened copying between thoughts within the Brain

Some additional info.
Maybe due to using "shift enter "to create a new line (from memory that is where this behaviour has happened the most)
The information is definately on the clipboard, as I can paste it into Notepad.
Once pasted into Notepad, I can recopy and successfully paste into the Brain Notes.

Using the alpha version of the Brain (now .248) on Windows 10

In my case almost certainly copying styled text from a web page.

[TheBrian - V9.0.249]

I had that problem yesterday, was going to do a screen recording and it fixed it self.
Did some more testing and I have been able to reproduce the pasting bug for at least text.

Video of me reproducing the pasting bug:
https://www.screencast.com/t/wgNZ6Zkibxu9

Now this was just with text, but I have had it with web pages too so I'm not sure if this is going to cover all the pasting bug errors.
But at least it's a start. [wink]

Thanks Pat,

Where did the "CTRL-C - Paste Line" text come from that you have on the clipboard?

Thank you,
Matt

It's was just text "Ctlr-C - Paste Line" that I had in windows Sticky-Notes on another screen.

It could of been piece of text from a windows note pad or Evernote note and it would still cause the same problem.
