I have a thought (text copied & pasted) "Thinkers 50, Rankings, 20" but it doesn't appear in search.

If I type "21" up comes "Thinkers 50, Rankings, 21" in the search results box. If I type "19" up comes "Thinkers 50, Rankings, 19" in the search results box.

But typing 20… nothing comes up.

It sits along with it's siblings Rankings 1…50. It was created (as I described in another thread) using the ";" trick to create all of those thoughts at once.

This could be due to bug #4683, just fixed in 9.0.246. If that thought was deleted and then the deletion was undone in a version prior to 9.0.246, its index information would not have been restored. You can rebuild the search index by closing the brain and then opening it with the shift key held down. (FYI: Even though this only takes a few seconds, it is almost never necessary and this is the only case that I am aware of so far that justifies doing this.)

Thank you, the re-index (I suspected that would be the answer but didn't want to pre-empt in case there was something else to do first) fixed this but in the process has turned up something else.

1. A search for "20" didn't just not turn up that thought but didn't up LOTS of stuff that now (after doing the reindex) turns up for a "20" search.
2. I have only just realised that searching also searches in link labels.

Of course (2) makes sense but I have a LOT of links labelled 2001, 2003, 2005, and so on. Now when I search for 20 I get about a jazillion matches, like that, that I have to scroll through.

Is there a search syntax that can help here?

In fact am I missing some complete guide to search syntax?

Thanks.

Matt

Matt,

This should work, try searching for:

20 -200 -201

This should weed out anything with the year 2000 - 2019.

Thank you,
Matt
