Hello,

I have just tried (3 times) to update the current installation (v9.0.167) on my Windows notebook. 
I could download the new release (v9.0.170) but after confirming the question to close and restart TheBrain nothing happens.

Thanks for posting.  A manual update is needed for this version.  Please try uninstalling your current version of v9.  Instructions located here: http://www.thebrain.com/products/thebrain/thebrain9/update-troubleshooting/ Followed by a re-install of 9.0.167 and then the upgrade to 9.0.170.  Sorry for the additional steps, but some new features required the clean install.  Your existing v9 Brains will not be deleted in this process.
