In Account Settings / Licenses and Services, I see this:

TheBrain Pro Combo: 6 days until expiration.
Eligible for free upgrades released until 12/1/15 11:59 PM.

What happens if I don't renew?

Cerebrum,

This is explained HERE.

Quote:

If your ProCombo subscription expires or you choose to cancel, you will no longer have access to TheBrain Pro Cloud Services or be eligible for Free upgrades to new versions of TheBrain. You can, however, continue using TheBrain Free Cloud Services. The difference between the Free and Pro version of TheBrain Cloud Services is explained in our Cloud Services FAQ.

Your perpetual, Pro license will still be available to you and enables you to continue using TheBrain Pro Edition desktop software for the last version of TheBrain that your subscription was active. When a new version of TheBrain is released, you will be required to purchase a license upgrade if you wish to use the Pro Edition of the new version being released.

How much is a license upgrade if I don't have a Pro Combo subscription?
Based on the price of upgrading to version 8, it seems that the price is the same as renewing my subscription.

Cerebrum,

If you're referring to a license only, prices have not been determined for this yet for TheBrain 8 to TheBrain 9. The ProCombo is always $159/ year.

How do I renew the Pro Combo subscription?
I don't see anything that explicitly identifies the process for renewing.
Does the renewal happen automatically if a credit card is on file?

FWIW, my account now says "TheBrain Pro Combo: Expired today" but I think it should say "Expiring today". I still have Pro Cloud Services.

Cerebrum,

Yes, if you have a currently active subscription with a valid credit card on file, it will renew automatically. If you have an expired subscription and want to renew that subscription, you would do that from our Store Page by entering your email address in the Upgrade TheBrain section at the bottom of the page. It looks like you already have an active subscription and that it automatically renewed today.

Cerebrum,

I had the same too earlier. My license expired also on the day the payment was done. I think the software is not checking based on time zone... my new day starts a few hours before the US starts a new day and probably executes the payment?

After a few hours this was corrected again, but it is a nuisance not being able to sync attachments in this period of time. So I do hope thebrain team will solve this?

Thank you for mentioning this. It is a timing issue with the payment service that we are aware of. We will consider finding a solution in the future.

It's one year later.
Shouldn't I receive some type of notification that my subscription is expiring?

Cerebrum,

The way our current system works only notifies users if the credit card on file is not up to date. With our rebuild of TheBrain 9, we are also redoing and looking at the way our subscription service and its notifications operate. Thanks for the feedback.

That was 20 months ago. The future is now ...

When I check at https://www.thebrain.com/store, I get "To view and manage your subscription status, log in and go to the account page." When I log in, there's nothing about subscriptions in Accounts.

Cerebrum,

You can manage your subscription by logging into https://webbrain.com/login and going to Account > Settings > Manage Licenses and Services > Payment Info. From here you can update your card, or cancel your subscription.

Cheers, Sean

Thanks, I get it. I have to go the TB8 login.

This page is still wrong:

Capture.JPG

When it says "log in", it's clear that means on the current page, https://www.thebrain.com/store, not  https://webbrain.com/login.

After I log in, there's nothing at https://app.thebrain.com/account that allows me to view and manage my subscription status.

Thank you for the screenshot - I have documented it. TheBrain 9 Web client is still in development, but eventually users will be able to manage their account via TheBrain 9 Web client. In the meantime you will have to go to:  https://webbrain.com/login to check your license status.

Best regards,
Brigitte

It's now more than a year later and this is what happens when I try to renew my Pro License and Service Combo subscription:

  1. I go to  https://www.thebrain.com/ and log in.
  2. I see my online brains and I click on the menu choice "Account" in the top left.
  3. I get a page that has my user name and email address and a button "Subscription and License Management".
  4. I click on the button and I get a prompt to log in. This is for TB8.
  5. I log in and get a page with the title "Subscription and License Management". I have a subscription that is expiring in a few days.
  6. There's no indication of how to renew but there's a little button with the label "Payment Info".
  7. I click on the button and get "Internal error" with a link "Return to home page".
  8. I click on "Return to home page" and it takes me to THEBRAIN Cloud Services, which is TB8.
  9. There's a button in the top right with the label "Account".
  10. When I click on the button, the address bar in my browser changes to  https://webbrain.com/myaccount but the page stays the same.
  11. I click on Settings in the top left and it takes me to my TB8 account settings.
  12. There's an area "Licenses and Services" with a button "Manage Licenses and Services".
  13. I click on the button and get "Subscription Manager". I have a subscription that is expiring in a few days.
  14. There's no indication of how to renew but at the far right of a long black ribbon there's some white text: "Payment Info".
  15. I click on "Payment Info" and it takes me to "Internal error" with a link "Return to home page", which is #7 above.
  16. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Looks like I'm not going to renew this year.
