A brain in your app is a tree and while we are browsing it it's very usefull to see clearly if each concrete node has childs to decide where to go.

I wonder why it isn't realized in your app (or may be i've missed something)?

And if it's my domain to separate nodes in such way what is the best way to do it (TheBrain for Window)?

Each thought has 3 "gates": top (in the direction of parent), bottom (in the direction of children), left (in the direction of jumps).
These gates are "open": the circle is empty. Once a gate is connected to another thought, the gate is "closed"; the circle is filled in.

So, by looking at the gates you can determine if there are child thoughts or not.
