Thanks for the guidance - this reminds me of the CPM-80/-86/DOS command line stuff we used to do back in the '80s

Much appreciated.

That worked well, too.

Now I find that my PB registration is valid only for my Windows license. So the Linux version won't recognize it and I'd like to uninstall it.

While I see the PB iten in the Applications | Other menu, the Ubuntu Software Center does not show PB, nor does the System | Administration | Synaptic Package  Manager.

I am guessing that the "sh" command line I used to install the PB .sh for Linux did so at a "root" level, which is something I cannot get to when logged in as User.

My question is...how do I uninstall PB?

Thanks.

Hugh

P.S. I did search the forum, found, and tried jostber's suggestion "/opt/PersonalBrain/./uninstall", but it fails with this message:

"bash: /opt/PersonalBrain/./uninstall: No such file or directory"

Apologies for the noob stuff here. I found a related thread by Googling (again) and learned about Alt-F2. With that I saw PB listed and got the path to the folder. Discovering the file system by selecting under "Places" menu, I traced the path to my "Home" folder in which was the PB folder. I found the "Uninstall" script. Ran that and PB was uninstalled.

Upgrade to 5.0.2.4 loses all attachments and URLs

Moe wrote: ...I know it's silly to ask, but what was the method you used when you upgraded, did you simply install 5.0.2.4 then open your .brain file ...

Moe, this is something I've been wondering about - reason is that I can see different behavior between brains created in earlier versions than those I've created in later versions. With each dot release I have simply closed PB, installed over the existing version, and upon starting the new version I find that it has found my pre-existing brains and automatically opens the one that was open at last close of PB.

Is this the preferred method, or another?

Thanks.

Dryopithecus, I noticed your post and couldn't recall seeing this in my v5.0.2.4 so I went back to look. Whether in menu "View" or the toolbar button, all I see is normal, outline, and expanded.

What version are you running?
How to...print the entire plex (including off-screen Thoughts)
Thanks Darkstar, well said and much appreciated. This has to be a fairly common and widespread thing users wanna be able to do.

Yeah, I did consider for a moment stitching together segmented screen scrapes and printing that, but then...ugh! I...just...wanna...screa...so instead I shoved a pencil in my eye  and feel much better again.

Thanks jostber, that's a great idea.

I printed to Adobe PDF but all that went was exactly what is being displayed in the visible screen area - same as printing to a printer device.

PB 5.0.2.3 and saving expanded views is phenomenal...what a time saver and capability enrichment. So now...

I've laid-out a Brain in expanded view and saved the view. Maybe 20% of the plex is visible at any time within my PC's screen area. And, of course, that's all that prints.

What I want to be able to do is print the entire Brain of Thoughts as I've laid it out and saved it. My target output device is a 42" wide color HP wide-format printer (some call 'em plotters).

I've searched the User and Transition Guides and PB forms for tips on how to do this, but have come up with nothing more than WYSOIWYGWYP (what you see onscreen is what you get when you print).

Has anyone an idea or work-around to accomplish full Brain plex printing? Or, have I missed a golden egg somewhere in PBPro 5?

Thanks! Much appreciated.

5.0.2.3 - Strange attachment behavior in new Brains only
Thanks Moe, I just sent it to you.

5.0.2.3 - Strange attachment behavior in new Brains only
My two Brains created prior to 5.0.2.3 remain unaffected by the following - it applies only to every new Brain I try to create in 5.0.2.3:

After attaching a file or folder to a Thought,

1) the image of the item does not show up on the left end of the Thought, only a small "shortcut"-type black arrow outlined in white shows up there,

2) when I hover over the left end of the Thought where the image should be and shortcut arrow is, the arrow flies off to the lower left of the plex at a 45 degree angle and returns to the Thought after I move off hover:

When the Thought is far enough to the left side of the plex, the shortcut arrow flies off on-hover and takes out the Search text box - it just disappears.

Again, attachments to Thoughts in legacy Brains, relative to this issue, function normally.

Thx.

Thanks Harlan. Will do. That list looks to have been populated by the first run of 5.0.1.0 as a one time thing. When I open my Brain today to scrub the list it doesn't appear. Is there a command line switch or other way to have PB generate it again?

Moe, thanks for this. I installed 5.0.1.0 in a separate folder so that I still have my 4.5.1.8 installation. When I started 5.0.1.0 it automagically opened my Brain and put up the dialog windows advising me of the issues it found. I clicked OK through the two and it then opened and populated the multi-select window on the left with 68 items. I can see that these are the issue items.

So that I handle this correctly, am I supposed to scrub those and take action to delete the offending extra items, or was opening the Brain in 5.0.1.0 sufficient to have corrected the issues when I reopen the Brain in 4.5.1.8?

Thanks Moe, much appreciated.

In addition to the issue I/we were concerned that this didn't migrate into 5.x.

Thanks Harlan, much appreciated.

Thanks Harlan. The issue occurs only in one of my Brains, not the other.
