Where to download 9.0.151, 2 & 3
Where can I downloaded these new releases for the MAC from? The download link on the Brain 9 Beta page downloads v150 which I have installed and 'check for update' says I have latest release.

Can't move pinned thoughts along pin bar in Outline and Mind Map View (#3507)
TheBrain 9.0.150
macOS Sierra 10.12.3

I have upgraded all my software and  checked out again the problem I have been having and I have discovered that I can only drag pinned thoughts to a new position when I am viewing in Normal mode. It doesn't work if I am in Outline or Mindmap modes. Obviously this doesn't make any sense as the pin list isn't directly related to the view mode. Also if I delete a pinned thought in Outline or Mindmap mode then the pin doesn't disappear until I close the Brain and reopen it. If I delete the pin in Normal mode then it disappears straightaway as you would expect.

Please log this as a bug.

Accelerator keys for copy and paste thought
Thanks Zenrain.

So obvious really - I should have tried it before posting - I am just used to them not working in Brain 8.

Accelerator keys for copy and paste thought
I there any reason why there are no accelerator keys for 'copy thought' and 'paste thought' or the option to set them up in Preferences?

I frequently create temporary thought templates then use copy and paste to create new ones using the template - accelerators would be very useful for this.

I am not using Sierra yet as it caused problems with Brain 8 and had to revert El Capitan so trying out Brain 9 to see if its stable enough to upgrade.

In Brain 8 you could drag a pinned thought to whatever position you wanted on the pin bar but this doesn't work in Brain 9 - is there another way to do this?

yes thats what I thought you meant, but I had tried it out in Brain 8 and it didn't work, but now I have tried it on Brian 9 and yes it works - very useful.

The display at the top right is useful you and party gets around my problem.

thanks for your help.

Yes I do this, but with my long names I only see the first couple of words so have to scroll back and forwards to find the editing point. Its not as easy as going straight to the field in the Brain 8 thoughts window

zenrain wrote:  You can also access it by hitting [Enter] for the active thought or Option/Ctrl + Enter for the non-active thought.

That's a great tip - it makes life much easier.

Would you explain this a bit more - what do you mean by note name? I tried the thought name and label but the numbers are still visible.

Thanks

Rob

I love the new look and feel. Multiple tabs and windows are very useful. Also like the facility to preview attachments in the notes window.

Some requests - hope they are useful

Rob

1) Make properties window re-sizable. I have very long thought and label names and can only see the first few letters in the properties window. (Auto-resize would be useful). There is now nowhere I can see and edit the full name and label text.

2) Allow thought names to be edited by clicking twice (slow clicks not double-click) on the thought and also have a rename option on right-click menu. This would be compatible with most other software and allow quick changes to be made.

3) Allow the properties window to be dockable and/or permanently visible. I like to move round the plex selecting thoughts and quickly looking at my long thought names and label names without more clicking. This doesn't work well with current property window. It would be great to be able to have the property window on a separate screen.

4) Allow the notes window to be detachable. Again it would be great to have it on a seprate screen.

5) Provide custom sort option for child thoughts. i.e. be able to drag them into a specific order that is preserved (also see next)

6) Provide auto-numbering option for child thoughts. There could then be an option to sort by number and dragging a child thought to a different position would change its number. There could be an option to have the number appear as part of the thought name or as a separate entry. (I do something like this now, but manually and its a pain to change the order of lots of child thoughts).

7) Mindmap view looks good, but I think to be useful it would be necessary to be able to drag the thoughts  around into different positions.

Links not displaying reliably when using link types with directional links
Ahh I see now. I had misunderstood what the one-way link does. The Directional arrow is exactly what I want.

Many thanks

Menus greyed out after changing preferences.
If I go to the preferences menu, make a change to a setting a then OK it takes 10-15 seconds for the preferences window to close and then all the menus on the main menu  bar (File, Edit, etc) are greyed out.

If I do something that opens another menu window (e.g. Open Notes Window) or I flip to another App and then back to TheBrain then the menus are visible again. It looks like it is a screen refresh problem.

Links not displaying reliably when using link types with directional links
If a link is created between two thoughts and a link type is applied that has a one way directional link, then when the thought that has the one way link pointing to it is selected the link is not reliably displayed. It will typically be visible when the thought is first selected, but if another thought is selected and then you return to the original thought then link will no longer be visible.

The link is still there because if you search for the connected thought the link (now pointing the other way) is visible. After carrying out some more actions and then selecting the original thought again the link may become visible again, but after selecting another thought and then returning again it will not be visible. I am not sure under what circumstances the link becomes visible again, but most of the time it is not. This occurs in any view type.

If you have several links attached to the thought, some which point towards it and some away, then only those pointing away will reliably displayed. This occurs irrespective of whether the link type was created pointing to the thought or if it was created pointing away from it but then changed in the Link Window.

If you change the direction of the link that is not displaying reliably then it now works fine.

Because of this problem I have had to abandon use of directed links. I have been evaluating TheBrain to see if I wish to buy the Pro version, but I am finding a number of bugs and the software seem unstable.

I am using the following version on a MacBook Pro:
