Can no longer run PB
For at least the past week, the splash screen shows up, eventually disappears, and the hard drive indicates that something is running, but PB never runs.

I tried re-installing the latest version, same result.

I'm using Vista Business, PB 6.

Is there a log that I can look at, that might shed a clue?

Is the beta fully functional?
Ok, sounds good, thanks.

Is the beta fully functional?
Seems like the activation worked.  Although it still says that the Beta expires in in 34 days, it also says that the Pro Edition is registered to me.

Thank you, sir.

Is the beta fully functional?
So if I just upgrade from 5.x Pro, to Beta 6, they will send me a key to make it fully functional?

Ok, I'll try that, thanks.

Is the beta fully functional?
The PB 6 beta installation is confusing.  When installing, it says the Pro Trial Edition has expired.  I had a legitimate 5.x version, and this is the first time that I downloaded 6.x beta.  Is this from some previous Pro Trial version?

On Help About, it says this is the Free Edition, and also that the Pro Trial has expired.  Below that, it says that the Beta expires in 36 days.

So, which version is this?  The fully functional beta or the Free Edition?  I'm happy to work with the beta (I backed up before installing) and upgrade when it's ready, but still need full functionality.

Tell Us What You Think about PersonalBrain 6 and WebBrain.com
Hi,

I haven't been to the forum in a while, and cannot figure out how to post a new thread.

v5 upgrade motivators

>>...what would motivate, or not, PB users to upgrade to a new version...<<

1)  Blind faith.  Personal Brain been useful and interesting enough up to now, and I believe the company has a vision for the future that goes beyond continuing development of a software product.

2)  If 1) didn't exist, then an API would be sufficient cause to reach into the wallet.

When will 4.2 be moved into production
How is beta testing going?  Does it look like 4.2.x will be moved out of beta shortly?

PB 2008 wish list / priority list
1.  API

2.  More options for the Random Wander, like a pause-continue toggle key, and the ability to see notes during the walk.

3.  Move the 4.2.x version into production as soon as possible.

Wander enhancements
This was mentioned before, by SamCox, and I second it - an optional speed parameter for Wander.

Further, the option to display associated Notes when Wander is running, and also a hot key - like the space bar - to tempoarily pause the Wander mode, and to toggle it back.

Installing Indexing libraries
Never mind.  I went ahead and installed the version with the libraries, and it wouldn't run.  Then I reinstalled the current version of PB, and it included the libraries.  Everything's working fine.

Installing Indexing libraries
Hi,

I just purchased a copy of Pro for my wife, and installed 4.1.2.8.  When the initial execution of Personal Brain asked if we wanted to install the indexing libraries for searching non-text attachments, we downloaded

PersonalBrain_windows_4_1_2_6_lib.exe

But when we try to install this, all of the windows of the install process indicates that we are installing the Personal Brain 4.1.2.6 application, rather than the indexing libraries.

Is it safe to keep going?  This won't overwrite PB 4.1.2.8?

Notes disappear sometimes
I was just typing in a note, attached to a 4th level (meaning, the 4th node in the tree hierarchy.  I typed in around 10 words, and then switched to another application (using <Alt Tab> for a few seconds.  When I switched back to the note, there was only one word in the note.  I then started typing the sentence again, and some of the rest of the note appeared.

Then I did the same thing again, switching to another application.  I switched back, and one or two words were in the note.  I made sure that the correct node was selected, and typed in the entire message again.  This time, some of the rest of the note did NOT appear while typing, so it was necessary to type in the entire note.

Version is 4.0.5.7.

Would you like to be reminded again?

When you have a meeting entry in the calendar, the Options that you can select in response to

"Would you like to be reminded again?"

don't include the option to Never be reminded again.  The options are to be reminded every 5 minutes, through Never this session.  But there's nothing about "No, I don't want to be reminded again."

Update links from thebrain.com
Indirectly related to beta testing, can we update the links from the main page?  I was traveling over the last few days, and didn't have access to the Help files for Personal Brain 4.x.  Although I purchased 3.x, I prefer to focus on the 4.x version, and prefer not to install 3.x, in order to use the Help files.

One of the links that don't seem to work are thebrain\tutorials.  Also, there were some movies that demonstrate the features of 4.x, but I can't find the link from the website.  The link is in an email at home, but again the point is that website doesn't seem to (unless I simply didn't see the links) act as a central location for the related links, unless you already happen to have the links written down.

These aren't show-stoppers, just some things that make testing more convenient.
