This release brings more fixes and lots of adjustments and improvements to the expanded view. Enjoy.

Version 5.5.0.8-b

September 23, 2009

·         Expanded view is more efficient and easier to use

o    Thoughts tend to cluster together more efficiently so less manual adjustment is required

o    Thought size and spacing can be independently adjusted (use the mouse wheel over an empty area of the plex to adjust spacing and use the mouse wheel over the active thought to adjust size)

o    The range of spacing adjustment is properly limited

o    Separate clusters of Thoughts are not spaced as far apart

o    Unlinked clusters do not “fly off” of the screen

o    Hiding and showing Thoughts is less disruptive of the existing Thought layout

o    Fixed: Dragging the active Thought while “Automatically recenter” is selected results in jerky animation

·         Thought Types/Tags Menus

o    Fixed: Scrollbar overlaps menu items

o    Menus always show an outline regardless of color and mouseover highlights are shown

o    The tags menu hides like other menus when clicked

o    To select multiple tags at a time, hold down the Shift key as you click

·         Minor Changes

o    Added key accelerator option to refresh reports

o    Does not overwrite paragraph spacing settings when notes CSS is changed via the notes defaults dialog

o    Added new tip about tags and keyboard accelerators

o    Updated the list of pro/core differences

·         Fixes

o    Fixed: When report filtering is turned on or changed, some filtered Thoughts remain displayed, gates are incorrectly highlighted, and Thoughts may be positioned incorrectly

o    Fixed: In outline view, Thoughts with long names do not get the collapse/expand controls displayed on mouseover unless your cursor is moved to the middle of the name

o    Fixed: Ctrl+click on an empty gate makes the Thought disappear

o    If “Thicken highlighted links” is not selected, links change color when highlighted instead of a highlighted background being drawn behind them

o    Fixed: Under certain circumstances, loading and managing of saved expanded views does not work

o    Fixed: Drag and drop to the active Thoughts does not update the attachments window

o    Fixed: On Linux, the Add/Edit Event dialog box does not layout correctly

o    Fixed: The menu mnemonics for Unlink and Undo clash

o    Fixed: In rare cases, the Pro/Code registration information is not saved correctly and must be re-entered when starting PB

o    Fixed: Search button should not be focusable

o    Fixed: When paste as text is selected and both an image and text is in the clipboard, the image is not pasted

o    Fixed: Preferences does not open under Windows XP in rare cases

o    Fixed: Right click to fix spelling of name does not update Thought name

o    Fixed: Problem with modifier keys held down while keyboard focus in the name field

o    Fixed: Tags toolbar can be dragged out of the tags tab

Thanks again Harlan for the brief turnaround time between releases and the nice load of fixes.

Your team also fixed the bug that stopped Windows XP users from saving Expanded views. Many thanks, that was a major stumbling-block.

Thanks for adding a Refresh Reports kbd accelerator, that was desperately needed. We hope to see one for each mode of the Reports Filter (Normal/Inverse/Disabled) soon.

Although the traditional hotkey F6 for Create Child still appears on the Main Menu, I notice in Keyboard Accelerators that INSERT has been assigned. Both work although display the dialog at different heights in the plex. INSERT is certainly easier to remember and it's nice to find that someone on the team has a sense of humor.

@RZW7 Worked ok for me on Windows XP. Please post material like this in the PersonalBrain 5.5 Beta forum as a new thread and don't use upper case for your posts all the way through..

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you.

Edit: expanded view is also much improved. For other users, if you open expanded view for the first time and all the thoughts pile on top of each other, scroll the plex to expand the link distance and it will sort itself out, and display normally going forward.

Also, modifying the .css file to
P {

margin-top: 5pt;
margin-bottom: 5pt;
}

will once again treat Enter as a new paragraph (with a space between the last paragraph and the next one), shift + Enter will be a new line break.

Did I mention thank you?

rzw7, Thanks for the post. Testing the notes Copy/Paste options in 5.5.0.8-b on XP, Vista, OSX and Linux, they seem to be functioning correctly. Can you check if the text you are copying is making it into your clipboard. You can use this freeware utility to check this.

Thanks,
Moe
