It was working fine during the day. Was open and functioning. Came back to the computer and it had closed.

Now, before it gets a database open it crashes. I'm not sure where to start to sleuth this out.

Have you reported to support@thebrain.com.  A lot faster a response usually.

Did you try rebooting?

Ran out of time yesterday but will get a report to support today. Did reboot, reduce. I am suspicious is a Windows 10 update that likely ran setting as this happened on Thursday. Have to see if there was an update Wednesday.

Were yours like mine with a crash even before loading a Brain?

I'll share what support had me do. Simple.

Note: Please keep in mind that this process will wipe any preferences you have saved in TheBrain. Your Brain databases will not be touched, but the preferences in TheBrain software, including your list of Brains will be removed and TheBrain will start fresh. You will need to navigate to: File > Open Brain... to reopen all of your saved Brain databases on your machine.Close TheBrain application and Navigate to: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming on your machine.Delete any (PersonalBrain) folder if one exists and you are no longer using or no longer have PersonalBrain 6 or lower installed.Open any (TheBrain) folder and delete any .xml and .bak preferences files that exist here.

TB started right up. The explanation later was "This is an issue with Windows 10 not seeing the file correctly. This is why it needs to be recreated."

There is a little more to these instructions that CaptainJustice shared:

Hello ,

Thank you for contacting us. First, please make sure you are using the latest version of TheBrain, available here: http://www.thebrain.com/products/thebrain/download and the latest version of Java, available here: http://www.java.com/download. Also, please make sure you have all system updates installed. Once you have all updates and changes installed, please make sure to restart your system so any changes made are implemented completely. If you are still having trouble after this, please try this:

Note: Please keep in mind that this process will wipe any preferences you have saved in TheBrain. Your Brain databases will not be touched, but the preferences in TheBrain software, including your list of Brains will be removed and TheBrain will start fresh. You will need to navigate to: File > Open Brain... to reopen all of your saved Brain databases on your machine.

1. Close TheBrain application and Navigate to: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming on your machine. Note: If you are not seeing this folder, be sure to Show Hidden Files and Folders.

2. Delete any `PersonalBrain` folder (if one exists).

3. Delete any `TheBrain` folder.

Once these steps have been completed please try restarting TheBrain.

If you notice the crashing occurring again or continuously occurring after trying these steps, please contact support directly with this information and an output.log file after replicating the issue. Please be sure to delete any existing output.log files in Program Files (x86)\TheBrain or Program Files\TheBrain (if you are using TheBrain 64-bit) before reproducing the issue so we can get a clearer look at what the issue may be. In Windows, right click the TheBrain icon in your start menu then select 'Run as administrator', this will enable TheBrain to run as administrator for one session. Next, reproduce the problem then email us a copy of your output.log file which can be found in Program Files (x86)\TheBrain or Program Files\TheBrain (if you are using TheBrain 64-bit).

Thanks.
