There's a black frame around the program window when starting TheBrain11.
I closed the app and restarted it and it was there again.
Dragging the window removes the frame.

Could not find anything about them in the TB10-manual.

So a bug, I'm assuming.

Thanks for posting. This one is new to me. Anything unique about your environment? Some type of customized windows theme?  What is your screen resolution? Also, do you see this on any pop up windows, such as Options > Preferences...?

Thank you,
Matt

The Windows itself is pretty vanilla. It runs on a Lenovo Legion Y720 IKB, but I'm running a normal installation with it.
Lenovo software to control hardware-specific things is installed, not preinstalled. (for letting the fans spin fast and controlling the RGBs of the keyboard)
The laptop istself is closed almost always. I use an external monitor with 1920x1440 resolution at 144Hz. 125% scaling.
There's also an HTC Vive HMD connected, but that isn't treated as a display. Loads of peripherals otherwise.

Just tried again, but could not reproduce. Very slow startup, though. After startup getting another hourglass symbol for several seconds.
When I got the black frame, I remember that I could move the window around and get rid off it. Unsure quite how.

Will try getting to preferences when it comes up again.

Might be PowerToys doing something. Uninstalled it for now, since I haven't set it up anyway. Also changed scaling to 100%.
Other software running in the tray:
Macrium Reflect
StreamDeck
Free Alarm Clock
Roccat Swarm
Logitech G-Hub
AutoHoteKey
Lenovo Nerve Center (for the Laptop-stuff)

Peripherals:
Roccat Horde AIMO keyboard
Roccat Leadr Mouse
Logitech G933 headset
StreamDeck XL
StreamDeck
a printer
a drawing tablet (not one with a monitor)
a fingerprint sensor
a HTC Vive
an Echo Dot 3rd Gen for audio via bluetooth

Most of the peripherals are running on a powered USB-hub.
Long cables, many extensions and the whole system is still a little fragile, but nothing should interfere with what's on display.
Except maybe FancyZones...... will see if it will happen again without.

David,

Can you also please try the following: Click on Options > Preferences and uncheck the option for Compact Windows Title Bar. You'll need to then restart the app for the change to take effect.  Please let us know if this improves the app performance.

Thank you,
Matt

Still has been happening occasionally. Not sure if it had anything to do with "compact windows title bar" or not.
I managed to get it three times in succession, but I didn't record it.
I think it occurs more often when the software is new.
Might have been the first couple times today, when I ran 11.31.
So try testing it after uninstalling, rebooting and then reinstalling. If that fails, on a completely new system.
I think that over a couple times, Windows 10 knows that "TheBrain11" is important and it preloads the failing dependencies/resources/whatever
into RAM.
So as far as bugs go, this one might be a little bit shy by nature.
But I observe it occasionally on my Lenovo Legion Y720 as well as my Yoga One Mix 2s.
The only thing they have in common otherwise, is that I'm using them.

caught it on video, right after Windows startup. Audio isn't so great, but there is not much to say.

Ok, appeared again. Was the third or fourth time I started TB. So I don't believe my "OS preloading"-theory, anymore.
At least not as much. Am I the only one that gets it?
If so, it might be due to me being the only user that's on a pro-trial, rather than having a license.
I do get it more or less consistently on two very different machines.
Will be buying the software/subscription/license/combo/what when I can actually buy all the things for version 11.

Yes, I've seen the issue before occasionally and not just on TheBrain. It is a bug in Windows apparently.

FYI, it will not happen if you disable "compact window title bar".

ah, that's interesting. I don't mind the bug really.
Can't live without "compact windows title bar" anyway, cause there's too much useless non-optional clicky UI-crap visible, even when enabled.

68 now
haven't seen this one in ages!
It disables win+left/right. Also looses that property if one uses win+up/down.
I'd like to know if I'm the only person who has ever seen this bug.
Cause if that's the case, it's probably a bug I should report/search for on the Microsoft>Powertoys-github page.

David,

Thanks for posting.  No other reports of this as of yet that I'm aware of.  I'll keep an eye out!
