Currently in TB9, you have to open the thought properties dialog, before you can change the type (via Cmd-Y) or the tag(s) (via Cmd-G).
Cmd-Y / Cmd-G outside open the general types/tags lists, not specific to the current/a specific thought.

I find it quite useful as it is in TB8: I can move the cursor over a single thought, and can edit the type/tag(s) for this single thought via keyboard shortcuts.
I would like to use it this way in TB9, too.

I second this!  found it frustrating this morning
+1, I think making the Activate Tag and Type menu have a different accelerator than the one for changing the type and tag on the focused thought would improve usability.
