Some of the issues being encountered with V9 are discussed in the context of the size of the Brain involved.  I'd be curious to know what we mean by:

A Large Brain
A Mega-Brain

Is there a rough guideline, and is it based on GBs or thoughts or links?

No, there's no "standard". The most relevant metric for performance is number of thoughts. Size of attachments really only affects upload/download/sync performance.

Most of the brains we see are in the thousands of thoughts. Few are in the tens of thousands. Only a handful that I know of are over 100,000. And we only have one that is over 1,000,000, but it was generated by software, not human authoring.
