Get sometimes the message:
debugging note: database reconnected
sometimes there is no further problem, sometimes the following message appears:
Error: Couldn't find a valid active thought
and thought history is gone.
in one case I had to close Brain because no more content was found. I even had to kill the process by  use of task manager because it was still running without a window.

Hello,

This note is in place to inform us of possible database connectivity issues. Next time you see this problem, please post the output.log file immediately after it occurs. This will help us track down the cause.

If the reconnection seems to have a problem associated with it, select the brain from the list of recently accessed brains at the bottom of the File menu. This will re-open it and should fix the problem.

Harlan,
it happened again right after search for content in attachments; the search displayed 4 empty lines numbered 1 to 4
Error: Couldn't find a valid active thought
I could not reload brain by selecting it from recently accessed brains
had to close Brain: process was still there, had to kill it
I guess there is a combination with the problem of forgetting the search index that I have posted here: No search in notes and attachments
hope my output.log helps / seems to be full of exceptions and the long end looks to me like a deadlock
Good luck

Harlan,
Right now I noticed loss of search capability but without any message like "database dis / re-connect"
Search found only text within notes but in no attachments.
Reopening the same brain while brain is still running did not cure the no search.
I pass  two versions of output .log. One before the re-indexing and one after.
After Re-Index search found what I searched for.
Hope you find the reason.
BTW: Am I the only one to loose search capability on the fly?

I have the same errors. When it happens, some of my Pins disappear as well.

Next one:
ErrorMessage: Couldn't find valid thought
Could activate a visible thought, seemed to work.
History was gone
search index was gone
call last brain from File /
search is still not possible
close Brain Program
open Brain Program
search still not possible

Any statement of Harlan or staff?
don't even know if my input is seen there.
I am kind of lost with my frequent starts and reindexing runs (take some 10 minutes each)
Regards Hannes

Again lost search index.
Hope I have a valuable input here:
below directory C:\Brain\Brain01_brain\Index\
are
PersonalContent
and
PersonalThought (PT)
In PT is at the beginning after successful search:
_22m.cfs 294k 22:52
_22o.cfs 462b 22:56
and then many times the following file name
_22p
with various suffices like:
f1 ... f7
fdt, fdx, fnm, frq, prx, tii, tis
all of time = 22:56
this is the time where search is impossible
in segements.new I see only 22o. No 22m, no 22p.
I can send you all the files in Index if it would help

Please give me anwer, whether this information did reach some responsible person.

Hannes,

We are looking into possible causes of the problems you describe. Thanks for posting the log file. You shouldn't be "losing the search index" unless you are recreating your brain from a brainzip or other backup. If this is happening it indicates that the index folder is getting deleted or corrupted somehow.

Harlan, thanks for answering (on sunday!)
In a kind of desperate mood I wanted to jump back to 4132 before I had your message. Maybe some of the results are important:
First:
Even in 4132 I have this problem with the destroyed search index . Here I had not even activated the extra search library for pdf & doc!
Let me know if I should send further data and what.
Can it be due to my specific content?
Second:
I tried to copy thoughts from the beta version 4207 to 4132. This works fine with some thoughts  in selection (children of one parent). But if I try to copy a few hundred I get only the message 0 copied, 0 modified.
Is this due to the number of thoughts or does copy thoughts only copy one "tree of children" or in other words only the children of one parent?
Third:
copy back does confuse umlauts but with some other codes than in the other direction. Seems to be a unique code for each different umlaut. And it is a two byte code. These umlauts were entered in the beta, so they look right in the beta.

Now I can reproduce it:
4132 won't build a working index.
I even removed all index* files.
After nearly 1 hour of indexing there are some files with the many different types / postfix but search will find 0 content. Only words in title are found but none in notes!
What files shall I send? And to what adress?
Just to remember: right after start of the backup file search was working with 4132. Please help, I need brain for my work :-) don't want to stop feeding it.
regards, Hannes

First I spot the DB connection dropping & restoring.

Then:

"Can't find valid active thought"

Unless I go somewhere else (I use the Home button) 1. the error stays in the screen, 2. the error is actively generated as output.log grew from 300kb to 900kb in half a minute or so (see attached).

Most db disconnects seem to come with "cannot retrieve foreign ID".

PS: I've removed some of my (ESP) instant searches from the log
PPS: is there a support email where output.log can be send with a description of problem encountered?

Again.

Creation of new thought or new thought with note seems to affect it.

FYI, we are working on resolving all database connectivity issues and hope to have a fix soon. Also, the search issue described above has been resolved and it seems to have been a hardware issue.
