I understand that I can use Copy Web Thought URL to generate a link to any specific thought in a public Brain.  For example, I just generated https://webbrain.com/u/1893 as such a link.

What I can't figure out is how the "u/1893" is able to include enough information to point to a specific thought in my Brain from the hundreds of thousands of other thoughts available through webbrain.com.  I can understand how the actual URL of  https://webbrain.com/brainpage/brain/C00CB79D-B952-3F63-E801-80048C72FBC2/thought/58837 provides enough identifying information, but "u/1893?"

I'm also wondering whether that same URL (i.e. https://webbrain.com/u/1893) will always work for that thought, or whether it's transitory in some way.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

It works in a similar way as other URL shortening services such as bit.ly or goo.gl and is achieved by using a redirect on a domain name that is short, which links to the web page that has a long URL.

Yes, the URL will always be the same as long as that Thought exists.
