If I find a nice thought icon, I can use it and save it as an image on my file system. Is there no other way, if I want to use this icon on another thought?

If the icon describes a certain thought type and you want to use thought types, you could assign it to a thought type so that all thoughts that are given that thought type automatically gets the icon.

I'm a big fan of using icons for types as well, especially now they display in the drop-down lists in 5.5.

You can also create an area in your brain called Icons. Use the comma trick to name your thoughts with an icon name identifier (f.ex "icon, right arrow") and attach the image as a thought icon. Whenever you need to re-use it, bring up the thought, right-click and Open Thought Folder. Copy the file TheBrainIcon.png, now go to your thought you wish to attach it to, right click in the properties & Attachments list and paste. The file won't appear in the list, but it will attach that icon to the thought.

Also, if you want to find the icon file used for thought types, first activate a thought with that type, and in the P&A tab choose Edit Type from the Type drop-down. Click the Open folder for This thought icon, and it will open the folder containing the icon file.
