I noticed TheBrain doesn't give back any attachments and note search matches.
How can I resolve this?
Best regards,
Koen

Update: after help from Matt, TheBrain is now giving back attachements (as long as they are moved into TheBrain, see below), but not yet returning matches with notes (see screenshot)

As you can see, the active note has the word 'weird' in its note, but the note is not mentioned in the search results.

Then, as an extra question: shouldn't TheBrain also search linked documents? Now only documents that are moved into TheBrain are included in the search results.

interesting, I had just assumed searches would include notes. Did Matt say Development would include this in a future release?

Well, I was wrong about this. TB10 does actually search within the notes field. Enter a search term in the search bar upper right hand corner and press enter. The search results will be separated by thoughts and then notes.

While it will list the thoughts where that search term is contained, it will not highlight the actual word within that thought. In TB 8, it will also search for words within notes and then will also highlight the word in its list of search results which is a nice feature.

Update on PDF:

For all Windows 10 users having problems that the content of their PDF files are not indexed anymore, take these steps:

1. Start regedit

2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\PersistentHandler

3. Copy the Default value

in my case this was: {5E941D80-BF96-11CD-B579-08002B30BFEB}

4. Search the registry for this key (Look at 'Keys', untick 'Values' and untick 'Data')

5. Replace the default value {5E941D80-BF96-11CD-B579-08002B30BFEB} with {6C337B26-3E38-4F98-813B-FBA18BAB64F5} in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{5e941d80-bf96-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}\PersistentAddinsRegistered\{89BCB740-6119-101A-BCB7-00DD010655AF}

6. When you get the error "Cannot edit: Error writing the value's new contents.", check: https://www.howtogeek.com/262464/how-to-gain-full-permissions-to-edit-protected-registry-keys/

Update on TXT:

I just learned from Microsoft Support that their big May 2019 update for Windows 10 (1903) caused that Windows is not indexing inside txt files anymore. This might cause that TheBrain is not giving back Notes as search results.

Microsoft is now working on an update to fix this issue. Hopefully it will resolve the issue with TheBrain too.
