When I click Options - Preferences, then the Preferences dialog does not show. The menu bar gets greyd out but I can still navigate the Plex. Cycling through my open windows (Alt-Tab) does not help. Closing PB and restarting gets the menu back.

PB 5.5.0.0 -b and Windows 7 RC

I sort of had the same thing.
When I first opened the preferences window it was shifted partly off screen to the top. So far I had to use Alt-Space Move to move the window so I could see it completely.
Could it be that your window is even completely off screen?

Seems that the desktop size boundary check (of whatever you should call it) is not OK.

Mind over matter?
I don't mind and it doesn't matter.

Hi Steeph.

Thanks for the tip but when I use Alt-Space Move it moves the PersonalBrain window. I cannot see the preferences dialog anywhere.

If that is the error the window could be anywhere, so you never know which direction you need to move it to. The only thing that can be done is that the programmers make sure the window placement is correct.

Even if it was off-screen it should be visible in the alt-tab cycle. It isn't.

No, not necessarily.
As it is a sub window this doesn't have to be the case. This is different to for example Word. It depends on the Window management system that is used. I suppose that for Java sub windows this is not the case, but that's just a guess.

I checked in 5.0.3.8 as well, the preferences window doesn't show in my Alt-Tab list, but it perfectly visible on my screen.

Still an issue in PB 5.5.0.1 -b.

Northfarm, Can you try the following.
  1. Click Options > Preferences. At this point the menu bar should go gray.
  2. Now press Alt+C.
Does the menu bar go back to normal status?

Best regards,
Moe

Hi Moe.

Sorry no. It remains grey.

Holding the Alt key only makes the shortcut letters in the menu item underlined. Which must indicate that the focus is not on the hidden preferences dialog but on PB itself.

Hi Moe.
I suddenly realized I have never uploaded an output.log for this. It contains an exception that I can replicate on demand by clicking "Options" - "Preferences".

Just tried to open the preferences dialog after not using 5.5.0.1 for about a week. Now it opens. What's different? I have installed and uninstalled other programs, Windows 7 RC has been updated with fixes and I have updated Java from 1.6.13 to 1.6.15.
