Hi

Before porting my working brain to an upcoming version of PB4.2, i'd like to be sure I can revert to a 4.1 backup.

Due the excessive size of my primary brain, i'd like to avoid a second backup of the entire attachment content if possible. Please confirm whether it is necessary to back up the entire brain files with attachment file structure or whether a brainzip without attachments will be sufficient. Is the 4.2 attachment directory structure backward compatible with 4.1?

Hope i'm making sense here.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

The folder structure of 4.2 is compatible with 4.1, so backing up your 4.1 brain without the attachments is sufficient. However, 4.2 may still have serious unknown issues which may cause unexpected results, such as unexpectedly deleting an attachment. Therefore, I would recommend against porting to 4.2 at this time unless you can make a full backup.

Thanks Harlan, will continue playing with early 4.2s on a copy of my brain on a secondary computer and will await a more mature 4.2 version before porting with working data.

cheers
