Steps to reproduce:
  • Create a thought (call it X)
  • Use the "Add Note" function to add an .md file to X, say named 'abc.md' (and do not add any default Notes.md), write something in it
  • Activate a thought Y that is a neighbor of X (which can either be X's parent, a child, or one connected by 'jump')
  • Use arrow key to navigate from Y to X (but do not activate it)
Expected behavior is that Y's attached note (abc.md) should now render, but *only* render. That is, the notes editor should not receive INPUT focus merely as a result of focusing on the thought via arrow keys

Because the current behavior is that note editor now has INPUT focus, pressing arrow keys at this juncture results in the CARET being moved (rather than moving in the plex from thought to thought)

I should clarify that the reason I'm pretty sure this is unintended behavior is because if the thoughts in question only have Notes.md notes (rather than notes added using Add Notes) then this problem doesn't arise

ah yes, this happened to me a couple times as well. Didn't get around to figuring out what was happenintg.
Can reproduce this consistently with description.
Good catch!

should be mentioned that this will capture your focus, even when the content-area is made invisible. Meaning you're just happily alking in your plex, and all of a sudden stop dead with no idea what's going on.

I mean.... it's not quite the nightmare fuel that the self-inserted spacebar was (thanks for fixing that, btw), but still pretty bad.
I stumbled over it during normal (if still clumsy) use. Guess many people would trip over it.

Thanks for posting. If I'm understanding the above description correctly, you have `Update displayed content on hover` turned on, correct?  I see what you are saying.  Plex navigation can no longer proceed as the Extra Note now has focus.  I'll document this issue for review.

Thank you,
Matt

Yes David, you're right about the focus capture even when the content-area is made invisible. That should have been part of the bug report as well.

Yes Matt, that setting was turned on.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for contributing on the troubleshooting of this issue. It has been resolved in our latest 11.0.30 build, now available on the v11 Alpha Channel.

Thank you,
Matt
