HI all,

I would appreciate if it was possible to run PB in read only mode.
The idea is to deliver a complete product to a customer, but without giving him the ability to modify it.

Anyone else interested by this one ?

Thanks

This is a frequently asked question, and the short answer is no. We would appreciate it if you checked the forums for previous posts first.

Thanks for pointing me at those posts.
Believe or not, but it is exactly because I have read the 3rd post you mention that I posted my question

I still maintain that my original post on requesting read only brain was not useless for the following reasons:
The 1st post (http://thebrain.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3693438) is about read only notes. Mine is about read only brain

The 2nd post (http://thebrain.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3664698) just mentions that the free version of PB is more than just a reader

The 3rd post (http://thebrain.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3211218) requests indeed the same as me, but its original posting date is Jan 2009.
The only way to get things to change (ie turn an initial NO into a YES or eventually into a MAYBE) is to ask the question again, especially when almost 10 months have elapsed!

Thanks again and best regards

Hmm, I don't see anything specific in UserVoice for the entire brain (there is one for making specific thoughts read only). You may want to enter a new request (if you have votes left).

Oh, and by "we would appreciate", Dys means "I would appreciate."

Sorry if I sounded a bit high-handed there, but I couldn't tell from your post whether you had already searched the forum.

The way I see it, in the beginning was the BrainEKP for corporate use, with all the security and access level control required for its role, while PersonalBrain came later as a simpler user-friendly personal version. Being a personal application in much the same way as a diary, no thought seems to have been given to its potential as a presentation or distribution vehicle, and we are now reaping the consequences of this design decision.

For presentation (viewing by others), all we need is the ability to conceal certain confidential areas of the Brain, while still being able to edit it during the presentation. PB has taken some steps in this direction. For distribution (your area of interest) I agree the whole Brain needs to be made read-only. For this we need a viewer. No sign of one on the horizon, so I agree with zenrain that you should submit a UserVoice request for one, since they seem to prefer it to posting in this section of the forum.

What I really meant was "all except one of us".

I created a UserVoice request about having a "Read Only Brain". I could of sworn that there was one before.

Vote here if you have any votes left

Perfect, Pat - that's the one.

This thread mentions something about previous versions being able to be made read-only.

Thank you all for this.

I will be voting for this idea as soon as UserVoice becomes stable again...
