I would like for TheBrain to have a default zoom that I can set.

Then as I change the zoom level, I'd like to be able to right-click the plex and have an option to return to default zoom.  I'd also like a right-click menu item to return to previous zoom.

Thanks.

Hello Wordmuse.

do you mind if I ask you to articulate your idea a bit further ?
It is a MAP (or mini-map like CmapTools) what you have in mind ?
Reason I ask is that, I feel that, as of today, data viewing is TheBrain's weakest point. So I'm trying to distill other user's needs on this.

let me know

I'm not sure how this relates to CmapTools or anything else.
Please describe that.

In terms of what I am looking for, it's really to help solve a
pretty simple need.

Sadly, my eyes aren't what they used to be 30 years ago.
When I create a link label, the text is tiny. So I use my mouse
wheel to zoom the plex to see what the link text says.  But,
of course, the zoom is too large for most operations, so I'd
like to go back to the default zoom.

As things are now, I have to play with the mouse wheel too
much, and generally either have to change things very slowly
or accept that I'm going to overshoot and then have to fine-tune
the change in magnification.

Having presets that I could name would be ideal, but I figure
that's a lot of work, and thus didn't ask for that. But having a
button that toggles between two zoom levels; that doesn't
seem like it would be that hard to do. (Of course, not being a
programmer, what do I know? [smile]   )

I just figure - if you don't ask...

Hello

thanks, indeed we're not talking about the same thing. I thought you meant zooming out to see a higher map of your data.

re : eyes - got the same problem here ... bought my first pair of glasses last year (sigh)

By a "higher map" - do you mean a TheBrain-summarized view? Or do you mean having a flattened view, where a certain number of descendants of multiple nodes, neatly presented (e.g., in an expanded Freemind mindmap) can be seen all at a glance?  Or something else?

Hello again

havent used Freemind in a while, but yes, a "complete map", zoomable / navigable.
OK, it can be done with TheBrain's Expanded View, but it's not *quite* what I'm looking for.
To navigate through TheBrain you have to click through thoughts, while I would navigate a map using arrow keys or drag, and not necessarily lose the focused thought.

So - sort of like what I described here.

I think we're in agreement. [smile]
