The weblink works ok, so I guess there's an issue with launching the OneNote desktop app.

Are you talking about the Classic OneNote 2016 destkop-app or the new fancy, touchy-feely, low-spec,
modern, metro hipster-app? Not sure what you get on a Mac.

might be related:
On Windows 10 (TB 111.26 I believe), I observed an instant crash when trying to open a .xml-file without having Excel (Open Office or whatever) installed.
So I guess the bug is, that whenever there's no obvious app asigned to opening an attachment, it crashes.
Have excel installed now and don't want to bother reproducing it by uninstalling.

The newer, fancy app that's on the App Store lol. They've decommissioned the classic desktop app as far as I know.

From my own experience, I know that these new-fangled Universal apps are generally difficult to work with. Like getting a shortcut to open a Notebook a specific section in a notebook and then having a script call that shortcut was downright impossible, iirc.
Part of why I couldn't stick with OneNote as an external brain/org system/whatever.
Not sure how the Mac-situation is. But I'd expect the worst.

Thanks for posting. Replicated on macOS.  Seems to be working fine with the same scenario on Windows. I'll document for further review.
